Adjustment & Immigration

Humans are wired to be in routine and to have some sense of predictability in their everyday life.  When a significant change happens to them; whether in their environment or in their relationships, it can be regarded as a stressful event or a trauma.

Adapting to a new situation takes an average of 3-6 months (excluding emigration, loss or bereavement).

Understanding the transition through processing the experience can help to reframe and adopt a healthier mindset of acceptance. This can strengthen resilience for future transitions.
